TIP Strategies and Activities

Annual Anne Arundel County Teen Summit is a one-day conference to raise awareness regarding the risk factors associated with use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. The event allows for a unique opportunity for students to engage in stimulating discussions with their peers and representatives from law enforcement, juvenile services, child service professionals, local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and various other organizations/agencies that focus on the prevention and reduction of underage drinking.

Youth Epidemiology Workgroup (EPI Workgroup) is a small group of youth that meet on a quarterly basis to review and interpret County drug statistics and share their experiences on how drugs are impacting our County. The Youth Coalition Coordinator coordinates this group. The results of the meetings are reported in the Anne Arundel County Local Management Board Substance Abuse and Delinquency Prevention Coalition Quarterly Newsletter that will be disseminated throughout the County. The purpose of the EPI Workgroup is to gather the youth perspective regarding the drug problems within our communities and to educate parents of teens in those communities.
